These needlepoint designs are inspired by the rich knitting traditions of Shetland.
They make use of patterns found in traditional Fair Isle knitting, and are worked in the same Shetland wool too, all grown here on the islands.
These mini hoop designs feature the larger single motifs usually found on the tops of gloves, or in the yokes of jumpers, and come with a bamboo embroidery hoop that can be used as a frame, ready to hang.
Noss Sound is a narrow section of water between the island of Bressay and the Noss nature reserve. The colours for this kit were inspired by an autumn day when the deep rusts and gold of the moorland grasses contrasted against the stormy blues and turquoises of the sea.
