These needlepoint designs are inspired by the rich knitting traditions of Shetland.
They feature patterns found in traditional Fair Isle knitting, and are worked in the same Shetland wool too, all grown here on the islands.
Each design reflects a season in Shetland, starting here with the Fire Festival season, also known as Up Helly Aa.
From January to mid-March, Shetlanders celebrate their viking heritage with torchlit processions and galley burnings. There are 12 festivals throughout the islands, each led by a Guizer Jarl and their squad in full viking regalia, including shield and axes held proudly aloft against the dark night sky.
